Corporate Responsibility
Corporate responsibility should be reflected in the way a business operates, not simply in what it says.
INT6 believes corporate responsibility should be reflected in the way a business operates, not simply in what it says. For us, that means considering the impact of our translation application, InMyWords, on people, communities and the environment, while being fair and transparent in the way we do business.
People
InMyWords gives people seeking help immediate access to support. For those who don’t speak fluent English, it can save time, travel and expense by reducing the need for a return visit to see a professional interpreter.
We also believe responsibility starts within our own organisation, which is why the InMyWords team is paid above the National Living Wage.
Environment
We keep the technical and business footprint of InMyWords as small as reasonably possible. The website is deliberately lightweight, and the application runs on modest hardware. We continually refine the software to reduce unnecessary computing, particularly as the language model accounts for most of the energy demand.
Responsible business
Customers should be free to decide whether InMyWords remains right for them. Our rolling monthly plans have no minimum term, no notice period and no exit fee.
We also publish the safeguards and limitations of the service alongside information about how InMyWords works. If independent research challenges our claims, we acknowledge that openly.
We would rather tell a potential customer that InMyWords isn't the right fit than sell them something that does not meet their needs.
Responsibility and technology
AI brings particular responsibilities because people may rely on technology in situations that matter to them. InMyWords is intended to help people communicate when language is getting in the way. It is not intended to replace professional interpreting where specialist, formal or sensitive interpretation is required.
For INT6, responsible technology means being useful, honest about its limitations and mindful of its wider impact. Corporate responsibility is part of how we build and operate, from the people we employ and the resources we use to the way we treat our customers.
