Talking Translation with InMyWords

As our clients get to grips with InMyWords, one of the most requested additions has been speech to text.

People told us that being able to speak rather than type would make conversations faster, easier and more accessible. INT6 listened, and speech to text is now built into InMyWords.

Natural chat

Typing can be difficult for many people, particularly when a conversation needs to move quickly. Speaking is generally more natural and allows people to communicate without stopping to type out a sentence and wait for a response.

With speech to text, words appear on screen as they are spoken, allowing the conversation to flow more naturally. The written text can also be edited before it is translated, so any errors picked up by the speech recognition can be corrected.

Accessible conversations

Speech to text also provides another way for people to use InMyWords, particularly those who find typing difficult or who prefer speaking.

Conversations can be played back using an AI voice, with users able to choose the voice they prefer. This can be particularly useful for people who are visually impaired or who find listening easier than reading.

Familiar scoring method

Speech to text uses the same scoring and checking system as written conversations in InMyWords. This means the additional input method does not change the way InMyWords checks and handles the conversation.

It is another way to communicate, with the same underlying approach to translation.
