Why integrate
Connect InMyWords to the systems your organisation already runs, and a translated conversation, a document or a staff account is handled once, in the place your team already works.
This page is for the managers deciding whether to connect InMyWords to the systems your organisation already runs.
It says what a connection does for your team, what stays under your control, and what a connection never does.
One record, not two
Your case management system opens the case in InMyWords and keeps its own reference on it, so the two records stay matched. When a member of staff starts a conversation from the case, your system asks InMyWords for the address and opens it for them.
When the conversation ends, your system reads it back in both languages, with the facts it recorded and, where conversation review is on, its summary, and files them on its own record. Letters and documents go the same way: your system sends them to be translated, as a file or as text, and the translation comes back to the same place.
Nobody copies text from one screen into another, so nothing is retyped and nothing is lost between the two.
Staff accounts kept in step
Your identity provider, such as Microsoft Entra ID or Okta, adds, updates and removes staff accounts and groups in InMyWords over SCIM. When you remove somebody there, they are taken out of InMyWords the next time it sends its changes, without a separate request.
Other software can do the same through the people and groups part of the API.
Told when something is ready
Webhooks tell your system when a conversation ends, a summary is written, a translation is finished or an invited person joins.
Each notice is signed, so your system can tell it came from InMyWords, and it carries ids only, never words. Your system then reads what it needs with its own key. Nothing is pushed to it.
You decide what it can reach
- Your administrators make each connection. They give it only the access they choose, one scope at a time.
- A connection belongs to your organisation. It does not belong to the person who made it, and it keeps working when that person moves on.
- You stay in control of the key. It can be replaced without a gap, and the connection can be stopped at once.
- Everything it does is recorded. Every call is logged against the connection, and every change, and every read of a conversation, is on your audit trail under its name.
- Your address list applies. If your organisation keeps a list of the addresses its people may reach InMyWords from, its connections are held to the same list.
What it never does
- Start a conversation. A person does that.
- Give anyone the permissions that manage people, billing, groups or integrations.
- Reset a password, remove a second factor or erase anybody.
- Send anything until your organisation has switched integrations on and accepted the integrations data policy.
